It's a giving thing, helping kids reach their full potential.
Roberto Plasencia's native of Sacramento, California, and founder, Sport Camp Foundation.
Sport Camp Foundation had its beginnings in 2010 with one man in Sacramento, CA., Roberto Placensia. Believing that there was a significant need to help underprivalidged youths get to the camps other fortunate familes and their children have been enjoying and attending for decades. A cause was born.
In 2010 Roberto established Sport Camp Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3). Its mission is to broaden the life experiences of underprivileged youth by raising money for them to attend sports camps around the world. Such camps include:
Edukick Soccer Academy, worldwide
Kobe Bryant Academy, Santa Barbara, California
Lebron James Basketball Camp, San Diego, California
The Manning Family Football Camp, New Orleans, Louisiana
Roberto believes that positive mentorship and learning through personal experiences are key to the progression of young, impressionable lives.
In 2003 Roberto had the fortunate opportunity to work for Edukick (www.edukick.com), a soccer academy that reaches young boys and girls around the world through soccer camps. Roberto spent seven years coaching and mentoring youth in Madrid, Spain .
Roberto’s professional experience also includes 15 years at Sacramento-area law firms. He is currently a staff member at Trainor Fairbrook Law Corp.
Being a part of so many young lives over the years, and having such an amazing experience abroad, has inspired Roberto to give back. Growing up in a low-income, high-crime area of South Sacramento , he understands well the challenge our youth face in choosing long-term prosperity over short-term gratification. He wants to give them the same opportunities he had to reach beyond the physical and mental boundaries of his environment.
From 1997 to 1999 Roberto also worked for Children Now (www.childrennow.org), a non-profit organization that advocates for children's rights and well being.
